EuroPACE, which is responsible for the coordination of the project, is a trans-European Network of universities and their partners in education and training. EuroPACE demonstrates and develops the potential of telematics for the European university of the future and thus contributes materially towards the realisation of the concept of lifelong learning and the creation of a Virtual University for Europe. EuroPACE has a long history in research and development in technology-supported teaching and learning, as well as in the co-ordination of international research projects.

Catholic University of Leuven - AVNet department has as main aim to be an interface at the university for networked e-learning in an international context, i.e. to support local university teachers in the internationalisation of their education by using ICT with advise, design, development, implementation, and training, and vice versa, to assess (inter)national trends, to encourage local university teachers to participate in (inter)national activities and to translate (inter)national initiatives to the local and/or regional setting. AVNet has participated in a number of research projects on virtual education, e-learning and technology-enhanced learning in general.

ATiT is a Belgian audio-visual and IT company active in the field of education and culture, its mission is to support the effective integration of technology into the learning context and ATiT staff have significant expertise and experience in mediating between technology providers and educational users. ATiT has several specific areas of expertise including audio visual and multimedia production, the set-up and management of cross-border trials and projects implementing ICT based systems for educational networks, assessment, evaluation and review of technology enhanced learning systems, training and staff development and support to ICT, supported learning initiatives in the development context including consultancy to agencies like the World Bank, DflD (UK) and UNESCO.

University of Cologne - Faculty of Management, Economics, and Social Sciences-“WISO-Fakultät” is a dynamic player in societal development. It is one of seven faculties of the University of Cologne. Teknillinen korkeakoulu TKK (Helsinki University of Technology) is the oldest and largest university of technology in Finland. Lifelong Learning Institute Dipoli (TKK Dipoli) , an adult education unit of Helsinki University of Technology, is one of the largest continuing education providers among universities in its field in Europe. Making use of its international networks, the technological know-how of the university staff, and the business experience of industries, TKK Dipoli seeks to support business management and technological development. TKK Dipoli is also a major contributor to internationally recognized learning and research programmes. By developing methods and utilizing eLearning technologies TKK Dipoli sets itself as the forerunner in the field of continuing education programmes on national and international levels. TKK Dipoli also hosts the teaching and learning support unit of TKK, and is the administrative home of the development unit of the Finnish Virtual University.

Nyugat-Magayarországi Egyetem- Geoinformatikai Foiskolai Kar (University of West-Hungary, College of Geoinformatics) is the leading institution in Hungary in continuing professional education on Land Surveying, Geoinformatics and Land Management. The college is involved in various flexible education programmes for land management giving professional development services to engineers, technicians, and executives. International co-operation of College of Geoinformatics is oriented at the development of education. Several projects where College has participated aimed at the issues of interactive use of GIS, development of distance learning courses, education for continuing professional development, development of knowledge in land administration matters, and development of networking between universities.

The West Pomeranian Business School in Szczecin - Poland is the first private school of higher education in West Pomerania, established in March 1993. Technical University of Kosice - Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Informatics. The Department of Computers and Informatics (DCI) is a principal body of Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Informatics, teaching yearly more than one thousand students in Bc. and MSc. courses. The research activities are concentrated to new programming and specification paradigms for automated software development, software engineering methodologies and tools, advanced approaches in computer networks, computer graphics and virtual reality, concentrating to the integration of background theory and application praxis in information technologies. DCI has considerable experience with the development of web-based courses and is actively involved in international projects.

NETTUNO-Network per l’Università Ovunque is the first television and telematic University in Europe. Established in 1992 by the Italian Ministry of the University and Scientific and Technological Research, is a consortium of 38 Italian and foreign prestigious universities, technological companies and bodies such as Telecom Italia, RAI and Confindustria. NETTUNO offers 27 Distance Course degrees in a variety of fields: Engineering, Economics, Cultural Heritage, Architecture, Sociology, Psychology, Communication Science; 20.000 hours of videolectures, 20.000 of on-line exercises on the didactic portal. In 2003 NETTUNO counted 18.000 students enrolled. NETTUNO’s didactic model aims at realising a distance teaching method which involves teachers from traditional universities and at producing a didactic offer which is able to meet different educational needs.
